Senator Boni Khalwale’s wife, Gloria, to be buried in Malinya

Kakamega Senator Boni Khalwale is planning to bury his late wife, Gloria Sekeiyan Khalwale, at their Malinya home in Ikolomani, Kakamega County. Gloria passed away on August 15, 2026, following a cardiac arrest after she suddenly collapsed. The funeral service will take place at Malinya Stadium, a venue notorious for hosting bullfighting events, a practice deeply embedded in the community.

Gloria's body was brought to Malinya from Mukumu Funeral Home on Thursday, August 21, 2026, where a night vigil was held before preparations for the burial commenced. The grave's excavation was initiated by Khalwale himself, who identified the location where he wished his third wife to be interred. The burial was attended by various political leaders, including National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetang'ula, who conveyed condolences on behalf of the President, Dr. William Ruto.

Other politicians who paid their respects included Linda Mwananchi-allied politicians such as Trans Nzoia Governor George Natembeya, Vihiga Senator Godfrey Osotsi, and Brian Lishenga. The senator's residence has been bustling with political figures paying their respects to him and his family during this trying time. The senator, a medical doctor, expressed his gratitude towards the politicians for their support during this difficult period.

This is the second significant loss for Khalwale, as his first wife died in 2019 due to a prolonged battle with cancer. Gloria was Khalwale's third wife.
