Osun election: ‘You didn’t conquer anybody’ – Tinubu to Gov Adeleke

President Bola Tinubu has cautioned Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, against disparaging his opponents following the recent governorship election. During a meeting at the Presidential Villa in Abuja, Tinubu stressed that Adeleke did not "conquer" anyone but instead won the election, emphasizing that the people of Osun had spoken in favor of his leadership.

He told the governor, "Do not stigmatize any of your opponents. The people of Osun State have delivered their judgment in your favor, indicating their desire for you to lead. Therefore, you are returning to govern."

Tinubu urged Tinubu that any individual who cannot celebrate a free and fair election lacks the ability to rejoice in democracy's triumph. He warned against victimizing a single person during the campaign, urging unity instead. The President reminded Adeleke that he did not "conquer" anyone but rather secured an election victory, stressing that democracy's essence lies in the people's will.

Tinubu advised the governor to broaden his horizons through concrete actions rather than mere words or celebrations, citing his own rise to office as an example. He highlighted Adeleke's progressive instincts and his role in mobilizing voters effectively during his campaign. The President also noted that Adeleke's actions reflect a commitment to fostering unity, peace, and stability in Osun.
