OneOcean appoints Dr Claus Reimers as Chief Product & Technology Officer

Lloyd’s Register’s maritime digital solutions business, OneOcean, has appointed Dr Claus Reimers as Chief Product & Technology Officer (CPTO). This role will see Reimers lead the company's product and technology strategy, with a focus on accelerating the development of digital, data and AI-enabled solutions for the maritime industry.

Reimers, who previously worked at Akselos, a technology company specializing in physics-based AI for critical infrastructure, returns to Lloyd’s Register after holding several senior technology and innovation roles within the organization.

Reimers, an engineer, entrepreneur and technology leader, has over 20 years of experience building software businesses, products, and technology organizations. He holds a doctorate in chemical engineering from Hamburg University of Technology, and co-founded process simulation software company SolidSim Engineering, which was later acquired by Aspen Technology.

As CPTO, Reimers will lead OneOcean's Product, Engineering, and Architecture teams, overseeing product and technology strategy across its portfolio. This includes voyage and fleet performance, compliance, training, and operational intelligence solutions. Reimers will work across the business to accelerate product delivery, enhance technology capabilities, and shape the future direction of OneOcean's digital, data, and AI solutions.

Andy McKeran, Chief Growth Officer at Lloyd’s Register – Maritime and OneOcean, noted that Reimers brings a strong technical background and a deep understanding of the industry and customer challenges. Reimers echoed this sentiment, expressing his enthusiasm to return to Lloyd’s Register and join OneOcean during a critical phase of its development.

He highlighted the rapid changes in the maritime industry and the potential for technology, data, and AI to address real customer issues, such as simplifying complexity and enabling better decision-making.

To complement Reimers' appointment, OneOcean has promoted Kris Burns to Senior Vice President of Engineering. Burns has played a crucial role in enhancing the company's engineering capabilities and will continue to drive technical excellence and the delivery of high-quality digital products and services.
