No. 3 Florida State soccer rolls by FAU, 3-0, in home opener

Florida State soccer defeated FAU 3-0 in their home opener on Thursday, August 20, extending their unbeaten run in regular-season non-conference games to 36. This marked the Seminoles' third consecutive opening day win, accompanied by a five-game shutout streak that began last season during the College Cup. Leading the team with two goals this season, Tanner Strickland opened the scoring in the 11th minute with a header.

Anaiyah Robinson set up the goal by providing a cross into the box, which Strickland dove to head in the first first-half goal for FSU. The Seminoles maintained their momentum, breaking the half with a 1-0 lead. In the 63rd minute, freshman Ryder Ajeto scored her first collegiate goal, assisted by Ashlyn Henderson, who played a defense-splitting pass for Ajeto to score a right-footed strike.

The Seminoles took a third goal in the 82nd minute when an own goal occurred. A loose ball from a corner kick deflected off an FAU defender into the net. The Seminoles face Florida on Sunday, August 23, at 2 p.m. at Donald R. Dizney Stadium in Gainesville.
