Israeli army, settlers kill 2 Palestinians in separate West Bank incidents

An Israeli teen was fatally shot by settlers in the West Bank on Friday following an altercation involving rocks. The 17-year-old Palestinian, Karim Sanad Raja Shalaldeh, was killed by gunfire from settlers in the Sa'ir area north of Hebron. His father confirmed the killing to the Associated Press. Israeli soldiers responded to the incident after Palestinian youths threw rocks at civilians who were not authorized to be there. Some Israelis were injured in the exchange.

Additionally, Palestinian authorities reported the shooting of 58-year-old Fathi Khazem by Israeli forces in Jenin, following an operation in which he allegedly attempted to stab a soldier. No soldiers were injured in this incident. Palestinian officials have documented a rise in violence, with at least 87 Palestinians killed in 1,500 attacks by Israeli settlers and soldiers this year.

Turkey has requested an international arrest warrant for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu for his role in intercepting a Gaza-bound flotilla in May. The request, tied to an Interpol red notice, stems from the navy's interception of several vessels off Cyprus, leading to charges of genocide and other crimes against humanity.

An Israeli human rights organization, Yesh Din, has observed a shift in Israeli settler violence from rural to urban areas in the West Bank. The organization's report, "The Next Frontier," notes that the establishment of new settlements and outposts has led to violence extending to populated Palestinian cities and towns. This escalation coincides with the Israeli government's approval of additional settlements and the expansion of unauthorized outposts, which reportedly result in increased harassment and terror.
