Asante Kotoko's head coach, Eric Tinkler, has candidly revealed that his role extends beyond securing victory on the field, as he identifies financial, infrastructural, and disciplinary struggles as impediments to the team's advancement. Speaking to South African radio station Metro FM, the former Sekhukhune United coach emphasized that while high expectations for trophy wins are apparent, the actual situation is more intricate.

"The demands of contemporary football are significant. The aspirations of all club owners are success, and I share that same aspiration," Tinkler stated. With aspirations to lead Kotoko back to the CAF Champions League, Tinkler acknowledged that the current club environment complicates this ambition. "I came here to be a successful coach.

I came here to try and get this club qualify again for the Champions League," he added. Nevertheless, Tinkler underscored that achieving success requires more than tactical prowess, emphasizing structural and operational impediments. He cited ongoing financial limitations and subpar infrastructure as significant hurdles, as well as a notable disciplinary issue within the squad that has been a persistent concern since his assumption.

"However, the club is fully cognizant of the challenges it confronts, both financially and in terms of infrastructure," Tinkler affirmed. He explained that initiatives are being taken to reestablish professionalism within the team atmosphere, yet admitted that discipline has been a recurrent problem demanding immediate resolution.

"We're striving to establish a more professional environment. We've had to address considerable indiscipline at the club, and I believe this stemmed from various factors, all of which the club is aware of," he noted. Despite these obstacles, Tinkler maintained a pragmatic outlook on his evaluation, stressing that performance metrics will ultimately determine his tenure.

"I believe I will be judged, naturally, on results and performance. Yet, simultaneously, the club was well aware of the challenges we encounter," he concluded.
