Eric Tinkler highlights deep-rooted challenges at Asante Kotoko, admits club is aware

Asante Kotoko's head coach, Eric Tinkler, has candidly acknowledged the multifaceted obstacles his team faces, extending beyond mere match outcomes. Speaking with South Africa's Metro FM, Tinkler, formerly of Sekhukhune United, emphasized the financial, infrastructural, and disciplinary hurdles hampering the club's advancement. While Tinkler acknowledges the pressure of high expectations to secure trophies, he candidly shared that the "modern game" demands resilience, and aligns himself with the club's aspiration for success.

Tinkler's principal goal is to steer Kotoko back into the CAF Champions League, a feat he remains committed to despite the complexities of the current environment. He affirmed his dedication to achieving this ambition but highlighted the additional challenges posed by structural and operational issues within the club. These include persisting financial limitations and inadequate infrastructure, along with a growing concern over the discipline within the squad, a matter he underscored since assuming his role.

Tinkler revealed that the club is fully cognizant of these challenges, acknowledging that financial constraints and subpar infrastructure are significant impediments. Moreover, he noted that disciplinary issues have been a persistent problem, stemming from various factors.
