WSP Global continues pursuit of deal to acquire Dutch engineering firm Arcadis

MONTREAL - Engineering company WSP Global Inc. is persisting in its efforts to acquire Dutch firm Arcadis NV, despite its most recent bid, valued at approximately $7.5 billion, being turned down last month due to being insufficient. Earlier this week, WSP Global reiterated its intention to pursue a combination with Arcadis through a friendly, approved public offer, as mandated by Dutch law.

The Canadian-based company remains confident that a merger with Arcadis presents a "highly compelling opportunity." WSP Global had previously raised its bid to 51.50 euros per share for Arcadis, an increase from the prior offer of 48.50 euros per share, which Arcadis had declined. However, Arcadis maintained that the enhanced offer still undervalued the firm and was not in the best interests of its shareholders, employees, clients, and other stakeholders.
