Rhetan TMT Starts Power Generation From 1 MW Solar Project, BIS Certification Opens Access To Government Orders

Ahmedabad-based Rhetan TMT Limited has initiated power generation from its newly commissioned 1 MW solar project at its Kadi manufacturing facility in Gujarat. The ground-mounted solar power plant is now producing renewable electricity for captive use, marking a step towards reducing energy costs. Energy constitutes nearly 20% of the company's overall expenses, and the solar project is anticipated to improve energy management and operational efficiency while decreasing dependence on conventional power sources.

The company's strategy involves strengthening its manufacturing infrastructure and promoting sustainable production practices.

In conjunction with the solar project, Rhetan TMT has obtained Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) certification for its premium Fe500D, Fe550, and Fe550D TMT bars. This certification enables the company to supply these higher-grade products for government and public sector undertaking infrastructure projects throughout India. This expansion of the product range is expected to bolster the company's presence in the premium steel segment and enhance its ability to cater to infrastructure projects demanding certified, value-added products.

Rhetan TMT anticipates that the combined developments of the solar project and BIS certification will enhance manufacturing efficiency and broaden the company's product capabilities. Managing Director Shalin Shah expressed that both initiatives will contribute to improving the company's energy economics and market reach. The company intends to continue expanding its capabilities in line with demand from India's infrastructure, construction, and real estate sectors.
