New Airbus aircraft signals consistency, expansion of Ibom Air, says Eno

Akwa Ibom State Governor Umo Eno has hailed the acquisition of a new Airbus aircraft for Ibom Air as a significant milestone, reflecting his administration's consistent investment in expanding the state-owned airline and bolstering the aviation sector. Speaking to journalists at the Ibom International Airport, Eno highlighted that the latest addition brings the number of Airbus aircraft owned by Ibom Air to three, since his administration took office in 2023.

The statement from the state government’s media unit emphasized that this consistent investment demonstrates the administration's deliberate commitment to aviation. Eno also revealed progress on the Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul facility within the Aviation Village, which is nearing completion. Once fully operational, this facility is expected to contribute significantly to the state's Gross Domestic Product by creating jobs, generating foreign exchange, and enhancing the aviation sector's overall contribution.

The governor expressed optimism that these investments would translate into tangible benefits and improved living standards for the people of Akwa Ibom. More recently, Eno led a state delegation to Montreal, Canada, for the pre-delivery inspection of Ibom Air’s third Airbus A220-300 aircraft, which is set to arrive at Victor Attah International Airport, Uyo, on August 30, 2026, thereby expanding Ibom Air's fleet to 10 aircraft.
