Preparations at Shifa International Hospital finalised for possible arrival of PTI founder Imran Khan: sources

Islamabad witnessed final preparations at Shifa International Hospital to receive former Prime Minister Imran Khan for potential medical treatment, as per a Supreme Court directive. Imran, currently incarcerated since August 5, 2023, for a £190 million corruption case, has been serving a 14-year sentence at Adiala jail. His health has deteriorated during his incarceration, leading to widespread concern from his party.

Security personnel from various departments, including the capital administration, police, jail officials, and Rangers, were present at the hospital to finalize arrangements. Security pickets were set up on roads leading to the facility, and a security audit of the hospital had been conducted. It was not yet confirmed when Imran would be transferred, but teams were being organized to bring him from jail for a medical check-up and examination.

Upon his transfer, the chief commissioner would designate a room, ward, or floor of the hospital as a sub-jail, and the necessary personnel would maintain security and order.
