Nsawam Prison to host Teacher Licensure Examination for inmates for first time

The Nsawam Medium Security Prison in Ghana is poised to make history as the first correctional facility to host the Ghana Teacher Licensure Examination (GTLE) for inmate teacher trainees. The National Teaching Council (NTC) inspected the prison's educational facilities on August 19, 2026, to ensure readiness for this historic event.

The inspection aimed to verify that the prison's infrastructure, such as its library, ICT laboratory, and classrooms, met the necessary standards for conducting the licensure examination. The NTC team was pleased with the prison's facilities, describing them as conducive to teaching, learning, and examination administration.
