2018 ISSM Workshop

The 2018 Ice Sheet System Model (ISSM) Sea-Level Workshop took place on June 11-12 at the University of Hawaii Sea Level Center, Honolulu, Hawaii, USA. This was the first ISSM workshop dedicated solely to Sea-Level Science. Organized by the University of Hawaii Sea Level Center in collaboration with NASA Jet Propulsion Laboratory and the University of California at Irvine, the workshop was hosted by Prof. Phil Thompson and sponsored by the N-SLCT NASA Science Team.

The event featured interactive sessions tailored for both beginner and advanced users, as well as developers seeking to learn how to utilize ISSM. Updates to ISSM since the 2016 Workshop were presented, emphasizing user-requested features. Specific focus was given to tutorials demonstrating how to use ISSM's SESAW capabilities, such as computing sea-level fingerprints using GRACE-based estimates of ice-mass changes, utilizing high-resolution meshes to refine sea-level estimates in specific regions, and calculating resulting stresses in the Earth's crust, including lateral and vertical displacements.

Attendees were encouraged to present their work through an open poster session, and science talks were organized around pertinent topics. A heartfelt thank you was extended to all participants for their contribution to the workshop.
