What’s PKR, Amanah’s stand on equal funds, asks Kiandee

Beluran MP Ronald Kiandee questioned whether PKR and Amanah MPs would endorse equal allocations of funds for all Members of Parliament. Expressing admiration for the DAP's stance, Kiandee pressed for a response from the other two PH components regarding this issue. Kiandee urged government MPs from PKR and Amanah to clarify their stance on the matter, stating that reforms based on principles, not politics, should guarantee fair and transparent distribution of funds.

For years, opposition MPs have been advocating for equal funding in Parliament, but their calls have gone unanswered. Kiandee emphasized that MPs are not entitled to these funds, but rather they should be allocated to projects that would benefit their constituencies. He argued that such funds need to be managed with integrity, transparency, and fairness for all parliamentary constituencies.

DAP chairman Gobind Singh Deo confirmed that party leaders had repeatedly discussed the commitment to equal funding with Anwar Ibrahim. Deo believed that mandating equal funding would eliminate political discretion in allocating constituency development funds, thereby protecting the rights of voters regardless of their political affiliations.
