Shah Alam police receive report on Form Three student at risk of hearing loss after alleged bullying

SHAH ALAM, Aug 19 — Selangor police have received a report concerning a Form Three student who claims to have been bullied to the point of risking hearing loss at a secondary school last week, according to Datuk Shazeli Kahar, the Selangor police chief. The 17-year-old suspect has been detained and released on police bail while investigations continue.

The police believe the incident originated from teasing between schoolmates. Shazeli stated that the extent of injuries cannot be commented upon until the medical officer submits an official report. The case is under investigation under Sections 506 and 323 of the Penal Code. The victim, a 15-year-old male student, suffered neck and nape injuries, is at risk of hearing loss, and has been severely traumatized, leading to confinement in his room, loss of appetite, and reduced communication.
