Nahas maut lori Imigresen: Kertas siasatan dirujuk AGC esok

Jabatan Siasatan dan Penguatkuasaan Trafik (JSPT) Kuala Lumpur has stated that the prosecution in the case of a Immigration Department truck accident, which resulted in the deaths of three family members, will be referred to the Attorney General's Chambers (AGC) for legal proceedings. JSPT Kuala Lumpur chief Zamzuri Isa said the decision was made after the prosecution team investigated the accident.

Following the investigation, the state prosecution authority (Kuala Lumpur) proposed referring the case to the AGC's Senior Branch and Public Order Unit in Putrajaya. "The case will be personally submitted by the prosecution authority together with investigators on 20 August (tomorrow) for consideration of any potential charges," he said in a statement.

The incident occurred around 1 am the previous day when an empty Isuzu 'Black Maria' Immigration Department truck, believed to be en route from Kuala Lumpur Immigration Office to Chow Kit for handling unauthorized entrants, collided with a Proton Saga at the intersection of Jalan Sultan Ismail. The truck then collided with four pedestrians and a Inokom Matrix car.

As a result, three families, including Shaik Mohd Firdaus Shaikh Yahya, 53, his two daughters Siti Nor Sazlin, 25, and Siti Darwisyah Auni, 12, died at the scene. In addition to the three fatalities, one other victim, Mohd Firdaus' wife, 55, sustained injuries and is being treated at Kuala Lumpur Hospital. Following the incident, two men, the truck driver and Proton Saga driver, aged 43 and 50 respectively, were arrested and detained for one day to assist in the investigation. The case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
