IndiGo Website Outage Disrupts Flight Bookings, Online Check-In; Airline Reports Reservation System Issue

IndiGo's website encountered a technical issue on Wednesday, hindering flight bookings and online services for some passengers. The airline, India's largest with over 65% of the domestic aviation market, was unable to provide immediate comment on the disruption. Users in at least three Indian cities found themselves unable to purchase tickets via IndiGo's website, with a separate travel booking platform also notifying users of a technical issue with the airline's systems.

Passengers took to X (formerly Twitter) to report problems with booking and online check-in services. IndiGo acknowledged the disruption, stating it was experiencing intermittent issues with its core reservation platform and that teams were working with a technology partner to restore services. Customers needing urgent assistance were directed to contact customer service, while those with travel scheduled for later dates were advised to attempt the website or mobile app after some time.

The airline apologized for the inconvenience and thanked customers for their patience. This latest website and reservation-system incident adds to IndiGo's challenges, which were exacerbated in December when pilot roster planning issues led to the cancellation of around 4,500 flights, stranding tens of thousands of passengers and disrupting air travel nationwide.

Despite this latest issue being separate, it underscores the critical role of reliable digital infrastructure for India's largest airline, as a significant portion of domestic passengers rely on IndiGo's booking and check-in systems. Even minor technical failures can quickly impact a large number of travelers.
