FG okays N1.02tn for Port Harcourt-Onne road, cancer centre, others

The Federal Government has approved a massive N1.02 trillion allocation for significant road construction projects and health sector infrastructure, including the N74.51bn East-West Road upgrade, a new National Institute for Cancer Research and Treatment Centre in Abuja, and various other developments. The approvals were made during the Federal Executive Council meeting led by President Bola Tinubu at the Presidential Villa in Abuja.

The Ministry of Works presented seven memos, all of which were approved, with six focusing on road construction and one on trailer parks. Key contracts awarded include the reconstruction of the Ado-Ekiti-Iyin-Aramoko-Itawure-Osun State border road to CBC Global Civil and Building Construction Nigeria Limited at N159.83bn, the rehabilitation of the Abeokuta-Iboro-Ilaro Road in flexible asphalt, and the Phase II upgrade of the East-West Road from N74.51bn to RCC Nigeria Limited.

The health sector saw approvals for the National Hospital Abuja, including a new administrative management block at N18.74bn, modular clinics and theatres at N64.92bn, a high-end wing at N133bn, and a dedicated Neuroscience Institute at N69bn.
