FEC approves committee to draft five-year defence plan

President Bola Tinubu has approved the formation of a committee tasked with creating a five-year strategic defense cooperation plan. Mohammed Idris, the Minister of Information and National Orientation, announced the decision after a meeting of the Federal Executive Council at the Aso Rock Presidential Villa in Abuja. The committee will consist of key figures including the National Security Adviser, both Ministers of Defence, the Chief of Defence Staff, all service chiefs, the Directors-General of the DSS and NIA, and the President's Special Adviser on Homeland Security.

This individual will serve as the secretariat for the committee. The council has also approved the establishment of the drafting committee for the five-year strategic defense cooperation plan. Idris revealed that the committee has been given a 90-day timeline to present its report to President Tinubu.
