FEC approves committee to draft five-year defence plan

President Bola Tinubu has endorsed the formation of a committee to create a five-year strategic defence cooperation plan. The Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, announced this decision at a briefing to State House correspondents. The committee will consist of the National Security Adviser, both Ministers of Defence, the Chief of Defence Staff, all service chiefs, the Director-General of the Directorate of State Security Services, the Director-General of the National Intelligence Agency, and the President's Special Adviser on Homeland Security, who will serve as the committee's secretariat.

The Federal Executive Council, chaired by Tinubu, approved the committee's creation. The committee has been granted a 90-day deadline to present its report to President Tinubu.
