Arsenal agree deal to sign Villa defender Konsa

Arsenal have reached an agreement to sign Aston Villa defender Ezri Konsa in a deal valued at least £50 million, according to recent reports. The 28-year-old English defender, who played 48 times for Villa last season, played a crucial role in the team's fourth-place finish in the Premier League and their Europa League triumph, ending a 30-year trophy drought.

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta had been searching for a centre-back since the end of last season and has secured Konsa after receiving a more favorable offer. The transfer comes after the Gunners had previously rejected a bid for Konsa and briefly considered Bayer Leverkusen's Jarell Quansah. Konsa, who represented England at the recent World Cup, will undergo a medical before finalizing his move to Emirates Stadium.

With key defenders William Saliba and Jurrien Timber sidelined due to injuries, Konsa is expected to anchor Arsenal's defense alongside Gabriel Magalhaes. If the transfer is completed, Konsa will join a list of players who have transferred to Arsenal since the previous season, including Bruno Guimaraes, Christos Tzolis, Piero Hincapie, and Illan Meslier.
