Arsenal agree deal to sign Villa defender Konsa

Arsenal have reached a deal to sign Aston Villa defender Ezri Konsa, according to recent reports. The 28-year-old England defender, who played 48 times last season for Villa, helping them secure a fourth-place finish in the Premier League and their first Europa League title in 30 years.

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta had been searching for a centre-back since the close of the previous season, and it appears he is now set to secure Konsa after receiving a more favorable offer. The Gunners had previously been rebuffed by Aston Villa with an earlier bid for Konsa but have since rekindled their interest.

Should the transfer be completed, Konsa will undergo a medical before officially joining Arsenal. With key defenders William Saliba and Jurrien Timber currently injured, the 28-year-old will join a formidable defensive lineup alongside Gabriel Magalhaes. Konsa will follow Bruno Guimaraes, Christos Tzolis, Piero Hincapie, and Illan Meslier as recent signings from Villa Park, all of whom have joined Arsenal in the summer.

Arsenal's new signing will come at a hefty price, with the deal reportedly valued at £50 million (US$68 million).
