103 warga asing ditahan cuba diseludup di Manjung

In a joint operation by the Bukit Aman Criminal Investigative Division (JSJ) and various police forces, 103 Indonesian migrants suspected of attempting to smuggle themselves into or out of Malaysia were detained in the Manjung waters on Monday. The JSJ head, M Kumar, stated that five Indonesian men aged between 19 and 60, believed to be involved in vessel control, crew assistance, and coastal surveillance, were also apprehended.

The operation took place in two locations, approximately 0.3 nautical miles from Manjung waters and in the Pantai Remis area, Manjung, according to a statement.

During the operation, police seized 22 plastic bags containing a total of 5.8kg of hashish, found on one of the detainees. Initial investigations revealed that all migrants lacked valid travel documents and were believed to be involved in entering or leaving the Manjung coastal area using small motorized boats. The fines for each migrant amounted to approximately RM800 to RM1,800 paid directly to transporters and middlemen.

All apprehended individuals are being taken to Manjung IPD for further investigation under various legal provisions, including Section 26A of the Anti Trafficking, Anti Smuggling of Migrants (ATIMSOM) Act 2007, Section 6(1)(c) of the Immigration Act 1959/1963 for entering Malaysia without valid documents, and Section 39B of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952 regarding the smuggling of dangerous drugs.

The police will continue to enforce stricter border security measures and will not compromise with anyone involved in migrant smuggling activities.

Under the provisions of ATIMSOM 2007, harsh actions will be taken against those involved in such criminal activities. The public is encouraged to report any related criminal information to nearby police stations.
