103 warga asing ditahan cuba diseludup di Manjung

Manjung authorities have apprehended 108 individuals, including 103 Indonesian migrants, suspected of attempting to illegally enter or exit the country, according to JSJ Bukit Aman chief M Kumar. The operation, conducted in collaboration with the Maritime Police Unit (PPM), JSJ IPD Manjung, and coastal and Segari police stations, took place in two locations, approximately 0.3 nautical miles from Manjung waters and at Pantai Remis, Manjung.

During the operation, authorities seized 22 plastic bags containing 5.8kg of a methamphetamine-type drug substance, which were found on the clothing and luggage of one of the detainees. Initial investigations revealed that all migrants, who had no valid travel documents, were believed to be involved in crossing through Manjung's coastal area using small boats called pom-pom. The fines imposed on each migrant ranged from RM800 to RM1,800 and were paid in cash to transporters and agents.

All apprehended individuals will be taken to Manjung IPD for further investigation under several legal provisions, including Section 26A of the Anti-Migrant Trafficking and Smuggling Act (ATITSOM) 2007, Section 6(1)(c) of the Immigration Act 1959/63 for entering Malaysia without a valid passport, and Section 39B of the Dangerous Drugs Act (DDA) 1952 for the contravention of trafficking in dangerous drugs.

Policing efforts will continue to strengthen maritime security and will not compromise on any party involved in migrant smuggling activities. Citizens are encouraged to report any related criminal activities to the nearest police station.
