Union Minister Piyush Goyal & CM Yogi Adityanath Welcome Yamanashi Governor, More Than 200 Japanese CEOs Arrive In India

New Delhi, August 18: Union Commerce Minister Piyush Goyal and Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath warmly welcomed Kotaro Nagasaki, Governor of Japan's Yamanashi Prefecture. Governor Nagasaki led a high-level delegation of over 200 Japanese CEOs, industry representatives, and policymakers to India for the UP-Japan Investment Meet 2026. The five-day event commenced with a welcome dinner hosted in honor of the Japanese delegation in New Delhi.

Goyal, on welcoming the delegation, emphasized the robust economic relations between India and Japan, as well as the burgeoning prospects for Japanese companies in the Indian market. He noted that Uttar Pradesh's enhanced infrastructure, skilled workforce, and investor-friendly policies present favorable conditions for Japanese companies to expand globally.

Similarly, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath echoed these sentiments, reaffirming Uttar Pradesh's dedication to a long-term partnership with Japanese investors. He touted the state's world-class infrastructure, talented labor force, and investor-friendly environment as an ideal foundation for Japanese companies to invest, expand, and create jobs.

Governor Nagasaki expressed his belief that the visit would bolster economic and institutional ties between Yamanashi and Uttar Pradesh. He highlighted the potential for collaboration in clean energy, technology, skill development, and tourism. The five-day program, organized by Invest UP and held from August 18 to 23, will take place in several cities, including New Delhi, Lucknow, Agra, Greater Noida, and Varanasi.

The core UP-Japan Investment Meet is scheduled for August 21 in Lucknow, featuring G2B (government-to-business) and B2B (business-to-business) sessions.

Key sectors for cooperation during the event include manufacturing, automobiles, semiconductors, green energy, digital infrastructure, skill development, and tourism. The meet's emphasis on investment, technology, and employment opportunities will be put to the test in various sectors and partnerships during the August 21 Lucknow meet, where G2B and B2B discussions are planned.
