Trump clashes with CNN reporter at White House

President Donald Trump's White House expressed dissatisfaction with CNN reporter Kristen Holmes after she inquired about comments made by Democratic Senator Jon Ossoff regarding the relationship between Trump and his aide, Natalie Harp. The controversy erupted during a White House event held to recognize a teenage lifeguard who saved a child from dangerous waves.

During the event, Trump opened the floor for questions on various topics, including politics and foreign affairs. Holmes questioned Trump about Ossoff's recent remarks concerning Harp, a 35-year-old aide who gained public attention following her presence at a reported Air Force One aircraft change in July. In response, the White House's Rapid Response account criticized Holmes on X, accusing her of using a memorial event for a young hero to raise an inappropriate question.

The post also included a video of Trump reacting to Holmes's question. Later, Trump confronted Holmes while she was asking another question about North Korea, labeling her as "very disrespectful" and "fake news," and instructing her to remain silent. CNN strongly condemned the president's remarks and the White House's criticism, stating that such attacks on Holmes were unacceptable and beneath the office.

The incident comes amid renewed public discussion surrounding Harp, who frequently accompanies Trump and is considered one of his most visible aides. Harp previously worked in television news and is known by the nickname "human printer" due to her role in supplying Trump with printed briefing materials. Senator Ossoff, who has been suggested as a potential Democratic presidential contender in 2028, criticized Trump during a campaign speech on Sunday, accusing the president of focusing on personal matters and his relationship with Harp instead of fulfilling his presidential duties.

Trump dismissed Ossoff as a "Pee-wee Herman lookalike" and defended a proposed $400 million ballroom at the White House but did not directly address the comments about Harp. White House Communications Director Steven Cheung also attacked Ossoff, using derogatory language against the senator.
