SEBI-NSE Take Investor Awareness To Kite Festival, Tamil Nadu Event Promotes Safe Investing

Mumbai: The Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) and National Stock Exchange of India (NSE) joined forces with other market participants to promote financial literacy at the 5th Tamil Nadu International Kite Festival 2026. Held from August 14 to 16 in Mamallapuram, the festival aimed to spread awareness about safe, responsible, and informed participation in the securities market.

On opening day, SEBI-NSE launched an Investor Awareness Stall, inaugurated by Tamil Nadu Tourism Minister S. Rajesh Kumar. GM M. K. Srikanth of SEBI and Vice-President Joginder Singh of NSE attended the event. Representatives from other market stakeholders were also present.

Through interactive activities, the stall employed kite flying as a metaphor for investing. Just as flying a kite necessitates balance, direction, attentiveness, and control, investing requires knowledge, discipline, patience, and careful decision-making. Visitors were introduced to financial planning, investor protection, and safe market participation.

The stall also explained investors' rights and responsibilities, guiding them on informed decision-making and fraud identification. SEBI-verified applications and grievance redressal mechanisms were highlighted. Educational materials were distributed to attendees, tailored for young adults, families, and first-time investors.

Organising this initiative at a popular festival allowed NSE to reach beyond traditional seminars, connecting with diverse groups of people. The kite festival provided an engaging, culturally relevant platform to educate citizens on financial matters. Looking ahead, NSE plans to continue its investor awareness programmes through various platforms and formats, focusing on financial literacy, fraud prevention, and responsible investing.

By making financial education accessible and straightforward, NSE aims to build a secure, transparent, and well-informed investment ecosystem in India.

China yuan eases as soft economic data, weaker fixing weigh

SHANGHAI: China’s yuan eased against the dollar on Tuesday, pressured by sluggish July data and a softer central bank midpoint that pointed to policymakers’ desire to slow the currency’s recent gains. China’s economy lost momentum at the start of the second half, with industrial output and retail sales slowing as extreme weather…
