Remains of Yehuda Katz, IDF soldier who went missing in 1982 battle, returned to Israel

The remains of Lawrence Bertrim, a 42-year-old man from the Smiths Falls area who disappeared four years ago, have been discovered on a rural property near the town, provincial police announced in a recent release. Bertrim is the third man found on a property on Kelly Jordan Road, following the discovery of Robert Lambert's remains, who would have turned 83, and Robbie Thompson's remains, who would have been 36 at the time of his disappearance.

The cause of Bertrim's death remains undetermined. Thompson's death is believed to be a homicide, and charges were filed. OPP Detective Inspector Jennifer Patton stated that finding Bertrim's remains is a significant breakthrough for his family, who have been awaiting answers for nearly four years, and for the investigative team.

Three remains were found on one property, and OPP have been conducting a thorough search of the large treed property on Kelly Jordan Road northeast of Smiths Falls. Mark Fenton, 42, was arrested and charged with accessory after the fact to murder, making him the fourth person to be arrested in connection with Thompson's death. OPP have not linked Lambert to Thompson or laid charges in connection with Lambert's death, although they have not ruled out any connections between the cases.
