Obi demands credible 2027 polls, urges Nigerians to reject violent politicians

The presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress, Peter Obi, has called for a peaceful and issue-based election campaign ahead of the 2027 general elections. In an address at the National Peace Accord signing ceremony in Abuja, Obi expressed concern over election-related deaths and urged Nigerians to prevent any loss of life due to electoral contests.

He stressed that politicians seeking office must conduct themselves in a manner befitting the positions they aspire to obtain, stating that no one should be addressed as "His Excellency" without demonstrating excellence in their conduct. Obi also called for proper commemoration of those who lost their lives during the recent Osun State governorship election, urging political actors to remain prayerful and conduct themselves responsibly to prevent future loss of lives during elections.
