Nahost: Trump steht in Gaza und Iran vor dem Scheitern

US President Donald Trump had declared a breakthrough in both the war in Gaza and the conflict with Iran, garnering significant attention. In October of the previous year, Trump presented a peace plan for Gaza, signing the plan alongside the leaders of Egypt, Qatar, and Turkey at a meeting in the Egyptian resort city of Sharm el-Sheikh.

Numerous other countries also endorsed the plan in the form of an intention declaration to end the Iran conflict, which Trump signed in June at the Palace of Versailles. However, Trump was unable to resolve both conflicts. In Gaza, a "Peace Council" was established in January to implement the Gaza peace plan, but progress has been lackluster.

This past weekend, Trump's son-in-law, Jared Kushner, accompanied representatives of the "Peace Council" to the Middle East in an attempt to breathe life into the stalled conflict. Upon returning from the region, Kushner had empty hands. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, following his meeting with Kushner on Monday, only announced the establishment of two working groups: one to address the disarming of the Islamist Hamas and the demilitarization of Gaza, and the other to tackle issues of water and healthcare provision.
