Menteri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail berkata akta berkait rawatan dan pemulihan mula tunjuk keberhasilan sejak kuat kuasa Ogos tahun lalu.
Minister of Home Affairs Saifuddin Nasution Ismail expressed confidence that the number of individuals voluntarily seeking drug treatment will continue to rise. Since the Drug Trafficking and Offenders Treatment and Rehabilitation Act (Act 283) was enforced in August last year, 2,145 individuals have received treatment voluntarily.
Of this number, 1,401 are undergoing community-based treatment while 744 are in institutional care, indicating positive developments in the implementation of the Act. "This is a sign of success when we amend this Act, we bring those involved to come forward and surrender to receive treatment," he stated at a monthly meeting of the Home Affairs Ministry.
During the event, Saifuddin Nasution also launched the National Drug Enforcement Strategic Plan 2026-2030 and the AADK Drone Unit to strengthen enforcement and drug prevention aspects in the country. Under Act 283, enforcement, access to treatment and rehabilitation can now be applied to drug-related offenses other than drugs, including opium and ketum.
The Act has expanded access to treatment and rehabilitation in line with the comprehensive public health and rehabilitation approach. Saifuddin mentioned that in addition to individuals who come forward voluntarily, 23,317 people were also identified as drug offenders (OYDS) since the Act's enforcement, along with 1,109 ketum offenders.
He said the National Anti-Drug Agency (AADK) will continue to focus on prevention aspects and strengthening the enforcement and rehabilitation components to combat drug abuse.
