Kuala Pilah school lab roof collapse prompts chemical removal, JKR to assess safety

KUALA PILAH, Aug 18 — A laboratory roof at Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan (SMK) Juasseh in Kuala Pilah suddenly collapsed during the noon hours. The Kuala Pilah Fire and Rescue Department's (JBPM) Operations Commander, Senior Fire Officer Mohd Idham Mohd Rodzi, announced that there were no casualties in the incident. Firefighters arrived at the scene in response to an emergency call and discovered that a portion of the three-storey school building's roof had collapsed.

Mohd Idham stated that the room was empty at the time of the collapse. Following the incident, several chemicals present in the room were removed and relocated to a safer location due to safety concerns. The affected area was cordoned off and will remain inaccessible until it is deemed safe. The JBPM case was subsequently referred to the Public Works Department (JKR) for a thorough safety assessment.
