Kuala Pilah school lab roof collapse prompts chemical removal, JKR to assess safety

KUALA PILAH, Aug 18 — The roof of a laboratory at SMK Juasseh in Kuala Pilah suddenly collapsed this afternoon. Mohd Idham Mohd Rodzi, Operations Commander of the Kuala Pilah Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM), reported that no injuries were sustained. Firefighters responded to the emergency call and discovered a portion of the three-story building's roof had collapsed.

Senior Fire Officer Mohd Idham explained that the room was empty at the time, eliminating the risk of injury. He informed Bernama that several chemicals within the room were removed and relocated to a secure location, as the presence of such materials posed a potential fire hazard. The area was cordoned off and remains inaccessible until deemed completely safe.

JBPM's case was subsequently handed over to the Public Works Department (JKR) for a comprehensive safety assessment.
