Kane confirms Bayern extension talks set to start

Harry Kane is prepared to engage in talks with Bayern Munich regarding a potential extension to his contract with the German champions. The 33-year-old forward is in the final year of his four-year deal, which he signed after joining Bayern from Tottenham Hotspur for £86.4 million in August 2023. Kane was instrumental in Bayern's successful league and cup double last season, netting 61 goals in 51 appearances across all competitions.

Kane confirmed that the club had expressed their desire to discuss a contract extension after the World Cup and following a planned break. He stated that both parties are currently at ease with the situation and anticipate initiating discussions within the next few days. Kane emphasized that they are both calm and that there is no urgency, as only one year remains on his current contract.

The England captain has been a prolific goalscorer for Bayern Munich, amassing 98 goals in 94 games over three Bundesliga seasons. He has claimed the coveted Bundesliga Golden Boot award three times consecutively. Kane's exceptional form earned him a spot in England's 2026 World Cup squad, where he became the all-time leading World Cup scorer for his country with 14 goals in 18 appearances. He also leads the list of favorites to win the prestigious 2026 Ballon d'Or award.

However, Kane remains focused on the upcoming season and is aware that the Ballon d'Or is beyond his control. While he acknowledged it would be fantastic to win the prestigious honor, he stated that the focus should be on performing well in the new campaign. With only two or three months remaining until the final decision on his Ballon d'Or chances is made, Kane is prioritizing his performance for Bayern Munich in the near future.
