Manchester City Advance Talks For Morocco’s Ayyoub Bouaddi

Manchester City has commenced advanced negotiations with Lille regarding a potential £85.6 million transfer for Moroccan midfielder Ayyoub Bouaddi. The 18-year-old Bouaddi, who made his first-team debut just days after turning 16, has already amassed 88 appearances for Lille, playing a crucial role in their third-place Ligue 1 finish last season.

His performance against Real Madrid in Lille's Champions League victory in 2024 further bolstered his reputation. Bouaddi also featured prominently for Morocco during the recent World Cup, starting all five matches as the Atlas Lions advanced to the quarter-finals. As Manchester City prepares for the departure of Spain captain Rodri, who is set to join Barcelona for £65 million, they are keen to finalize the deal this week.

Lille reportedly values Bouaddi at approximately €100 million (£85.6m). The midfielder's deep-lying playing style and ability to control play from the base of midfield could complement Manchester City's new signing, Elliot Anderson. Meanwhile, Spain's Rodri is preparing to leave Manchester City after a seven-year tenure, having made 298 appearances and won multiple major trophies.

The pursuit of Bouaddi may also impact Manchester City's interest in Chelsea's Enzo Fernandez, although manager Enzo Maresca remains keen on signing the Argentine international.
