Belanjawan 2027 ambil kira beban M40, kata PM

Perdana Menteri Anwar Ibrahim has announced that the 2027 budget will include initiatives to reduce the burden on the M40 income group. Speaking to reporters after attending the 2027 Federal Budget Committee meeting at the Finance Ministry, Anwar said, "We have a list of things we have prioritized to ease the M40 burden." When asked about the government's efforts to assist the M40 group through the 2027 budget, Anwar stated that the investigation and actions related to the Royal Commissions of Inquiry (RCI) on the Hajj Investment Trust (TH) Fund are not limited to the set timeframe but extend before and after the reporting period.

He emphasized that there are no barriers for the authorities to conduct investigations covering the focus period of the RCI. Anwar noted that all actions and studies, including investigations, fall under the jurisdiction of the RCI, which serves as the parent body. He also mentioned that there is no hindrance to conducting research (investigations) before and after the reporting period of the RCI, which is carried out by the oversight and investigative bodies.

Earlier, some National Justice Party (BN) and Pakatan Harapan (PH) MPs had proposed the creation of a new RCI covering the period of 2021 to 2025, as the previous investigations only covered the period from 2014 to 2020. They argued that a new RCI is necessary to investigate the management of the TH fund and the responsible party for the financial and institutional management issues.

Anwar, who was also the Finance Minister at the time, stressed that political stability is crucial for ensuring Malaysia remains a trusted investment destination. He emphasized that political stability is vital for the country, as people will not invest if politics is not stable. He explained that he chose to prioritize stability over compromises, as the economy will suffer if compromises limit his ability to take steps.
