Bayern’s Musiala reveals ‘neurological disorder’ after on-field collapse

Bayern Munich's midfielder Jamal Musiala has revealed he is battling a neurological disorder following two on-field collapses in recent days. The 23-year-old German international experienced his latest collapse during a pre-season friendly match against RB Leipzig on Tuesday, just minutes after entering the game. A similar incident occurred on Saturday during Bayern's home win over Leipzig. On Tuesday, Musiala was seen appearing dazed as he received medical treatment and was helped off the pitch.

In a post on social media, Musiala disclosed that he has been diagnosed with brief, temporary episodes of absence caused by a neurological dysfunction. These episodes can lead to the recent collapses, including the ones against Leipzig and Heidenheim. Musiala emphasized that while these situations may seem alarming, they are currently merely part of his everyday life.

He expressed immense gratitude for the support and messages received, stating that he is receiving the best possible medical care and is optimistic about the situation.

Bayern's sporting director Max Eberl confirmed that Musiala will provide further insights into the matter in the near future. The club was already aware of the issue, and Musiala plans to address it soon. On Saturday, Musiala collapsed during Leipzig's match in hot conditions with temperatures surpassing 30C. Earlier this season, Musiala missed the first six months due to a broken ankle sustained at the Club World Cup. However, he returned for the latter part of the season and represented Germany at the 2026 World Cup.
