Argentina's vice-president says she is "extremely worried" about those who cannot make ends meet

Argentina's Vice-President Victoria Villarruel expressed deep concern over those struggling to make ends meet amid unemployment, during the opening of Expo Venado 2026, a farming event in Venado Tuerto, Santa Fe province. She urged the political class to prioritize addressing these issues. Villarruel emphasized that without work, there is no family, and without production, there is no work.

Despite the current challenges, she maintained that Argentina has immense potential and should strive for a prosperous future. She also advocated for the removal of export duties, known as retenciones, which have been imposed on exports of grains and other goods for decades. Villarruel called for a policy of robust support for domestic industry and agriculture.

She cut the ribbon alongside the mayor of Venado Tuerto and president of the national committee of the Unión Cívica Radical, a party not part of the governing coalition. When asked about the 2027 electoral landscape, Villarruel stressed the importance of national unity, emphasizing that the discussion should focus on the nation's well-being rather than individual candidacies or political parties.
