Kerala woman dies after collapsing at husband’s funeral

In Kerala's Pala, a family is mourning the tragic loss of a husband and wife just days apart. Kurian Joseph, 73, passed away on Saturday, and his funeral services were held at his residence on Monday. Shirley Kurian, 71, his wife, collapsed after giving him a final kiss, and was rushed to the hospital but could not be saved. The sudden death of Shirley deepened the family's grief as preparations began for both of their final rites.

The Indian expat couple's deaths have left their three children and other relatives in shock and grief. Kurian was a businessman from Pala, associated with the Kerala Congress steering committee and the Pala Krishi Bhavan advisory committee. Shirley was from the Pachakavil family in Edathua. The family is currently preparing for the final prayers and burial of both the husband and wife, who are expected to be laid to rest together at the St George Lalam cemetery in Pala.

The tragic sequence has garnered attention as Shirley died while attending her husband's funeral, just days after his own death.
