Trump threatens to bomb Oman if it gets in way of Iran deal: report

President Donald Trump expressed a threat to bomb Oman if it interferes with a potential U.S.-Iranian agreement regarding the Strait of Hormuz. During an interview with Fox News journalist Trey Yingst, Trump stated, "If Oman gets in the way, we'll bomb the shit out of them," referring to ongoing negotiations between Oman and Iran concerning control of the strategic waterway.

Simultaneously, Washington is engaging in its own discussions on the matter. Iranian and Omani officials have been conversing for weeks about establishing arrangements for maritime navigation through the vital shipping route. Tehran's foreign ministry had previously announced that both countries were working towards a joint declaration.

However, Trump has consistently maintained that the strait, which Iran closed at the onset of the Middle East conflict on February 28, is under U.S. control, despite the ongoing restrictions on traffic. On Friday, Trump went even further, suggesting he would consider designating the Strait of Hormuz as U.S. territory. Iran, on the other hand, firmly maintained its stance that the crucial energy conduit, which it has blockaded, would remain under Iranian jurisdiction.

Prior to the commencement of the U.S.-Israeli war against Iran, the Hormuz was a focal point of tensions in the region.
