Dubai upgrades Al Marabea’ Street to ease traffic and cut journey times

Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has recently completed significant enhancements to Al Marabea’ Street in Al Quoz, aiming to alleviate traffic congestion and shorten travel times on this key route. Spanning a 1.1-kilometre stretch between the Al Khail Road exit and Al Asayel Street, the project increased the road’s capacity by 30%, leading to a potential reduction in journey times by up to 30% during peak hours.

The upgrades also involved widening an intersection and adding a new lane for vehicles heading from Al Marabea’ Street towards Street 16A. As a result, traffic queues and congestion at the intersection have been reduced by an impressive 50%. Additionally, new lighting poles have been installed along the upgraded section, enhancing visibility and safety for drivers, particularly at night.

Al Marabea’ Street serves as a crucial thoroughfare connecting Al Khail Road with Al Asayel Street in Al Quoz. It provides access to various industrial, commercial, and residential areas, facilitating movement to and from key locations such as Al Quoz, Al Meydan, Business Bay, and Downtown Dubai. The RTA’s improvements align with their broader strategy to upgrade Dubai’s road network as the city continues to expand.

Such projects aim to improve daily commutes, reduce delays, and ensure smoother traffic flow across the emirate.

Further enhancements are currently underway on Al Marabea’ Street, including a new service road, a continuous pedestrian walkway in the nearby industrial area, and a new access point at the beginning of the Al Khail Road exit. These additional features are set to improve entry into the area and enhance both driver and pedestrian safety. The remaining works are scheduled to conclude by the end of August 2026.
