Supreme Court weighs rules for Ram Mandir donations amid probe into alleged embezzlement

The Supreme Court is considering rules for transparent maintenance of donations to the Ram Mandir in Ayodhya following allegations of fund embezzlement. Chief Justice Surya Kant mentioned the need for such reforms when hearing petitions requesting a probe into the alleged misuse of funds. The court has tasked a Special Investigation Team (SIT) with investigating the matter and aims for the team to conclude its work within three weeks.

The current managing Trust for the shrine is under scrutiny, with one petitioner arguing it should be dissolved for a proper investigation. The Solicitor General clarified that the SIT is accountable to the court, not the Trust, and suggested petitioners could submit their suggestions to the Solicitor General's office for thorough investigation.
