Supreme Court again rejects Trump bid to overturn E. Jean Carroll verdict

On August 17, 2026, the Supreme Court announced its intention to review a 2025 ruling that determined the Hare Krishna temple in Bengaluru belonged to ISKCON Bangalore. The dispute arose from a 2025 review petition filed by ISKCON Mumbai, which challenged the Supreme Court's May 16, 2025, decision. ISKCON Bangalore had initially contested a 2021 High Court ruling favoring ISKCON Mumbai, arguing that the temple belonged to their organization.

This legal battle involved two societies with the same name but different spiritual missions and legal registrations. ISKCON Bangalore claimed to have operated independently and managed the temple for decades, while ISKCON Mumbai asserted their rights over the property under various acts. The Supreme Court had previously ruled in favor of ISKCON Bangalore, setting aside a High Court order and granting the temple's ownership to the Bangalore branch.

However, ISKCON Mumbai's review petition was dismissed by a split verdict in November 2025. On August 17, 2026, ISKCON Mumbai sought a fresh Bench to hear the case, arguing that a review petition had not been listed before the two separate benches headed by Justices M.M. Sundresh and Dipankar Datta.
