Room to grow: 524 classroom projects worth RM668m in the works for 2027

KUALA NERUS, August 17 — In anticipation of the Year One intake for the 2027 session, a total of 524 additional classroom projects, valued at RM668 million, are currently underway across the country, according to Deputy Works Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Maslan. Of these approved projects, 517 have received Letters of Acceptance (LoAs), with three projects already completed ahead of schedule.

The utilization of modular methods and the Industrialised Building System (IBS) is a key feature of these initiatives. Dr. Maslan made this announcement after the handover ceremony of the first project completed ahead of schedule, officially witnessed by Education Minister Fadhlina Sidek at Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan Tok Jembal today.

These projects encompass 459 schools and 1,780 classrooms, with 1,255 standard classrooms and 525 allocated for the Special Education Integration Programme (PPKI). Selangor leads the charge with 143 projects, all of which have secured LoAs, followed closely by Kedah with 93 projects (92 approved) and Johor with 47 projects (45 approved).

Terengganu contributes 45 projects with LoAs, while Penang has 30 (all approved). Perak follows with 22 projects (18 approved), and Penang and Melaka each boast 69 projects with LoAs. The remaining states, including Pahang, Kelantan, Perlis, Labuan, Kuala Lumpur, and Negeri Sembilan, have also received LoAs for their respective projects.
