Manitoba’s largest hospital still working to recover from ransomware attack

Winnipeg's Health Sciences Centre and Cancer Care Manitoba continue to recover from a ransomware attack that occurred a week ago. The cyberattack impacted the hospitals' maintenance systems, but patient care remains unaffected. The security office at the health centre is closed, and ID access cards cannot be issued or updated. Shared Health, the health authority overseeing the hospitals, is still investigating whether any personal health or financial data was accessed during the attack, but an initial review suggests no data was compromised.

Additional security measures have been implemented as a precautionary step following the discovery of the issue on August 10.
