High Court to deliver ruling next February on Daim family bid to lift account freeze

The High Court has scheduled its ruling on a judicial review application by the Daim family on February 22, 2027. The Daim family, including Tun Daim Zainuddin's widow and their four children, are challenging the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission's (MACC) decision to freeze their bank accounts. The family's lawyer, Abraham Au, argued that the MACC had violated statutory timelines by issuing a fresh seizure notice under a different law, effectively extending the freezing period to 30 months.

The MACC, represented by Senior Federal Counsel Nurhafizza Azizan, maintained that the concurrent investigations were conducted properly and that the seizure notices were issued after investigations were completed. So far, 54 out of the 73 frozen bank accounts have been released, while 19 remain frozen pending forfeiture proceedings.
