KZN cemetery has a problem of men performing indecent acts on graves

In a shocking development in Verulam's Central Business District (CBD) of KwaZulu-Natal (KZN), residents are expressing their disgust after a local cemetery has become a site of daily indecency. Men are allegedly engaging in acts of masturbation on graves while watching pornographic videos, according to reports from Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA). Multiple complaints have been received by RUSA from residents in the Verulam CBD regarding these disturbing incidents, which have reportedly been occurring since January 2026.

According to RUSA, the acts involve different men visiting the Wick Street Local Cemetery during the day and evening, where they allegedly masturbate while on or near graves and tombstones while watching pornographic videos. RUSA was prompted to take action after receiving repeated complaints from residents of a nearby block of flats, who reported seeing as many as four different men engaging in these acts almost daily.

In addition to the audio from the pornographic videos being heard by children in surrounding residential complexes, residents have attempted to chase the men away, but the individuals reportedly return to the cemetery and continue their activities, sometimes in full view of the public.

RUSA has stated that the perpetrators are of various races and have been seen at the cemetery at different times throughout the day and evening. To address the issue, RUSA will be conducting regular aerial patrols over the cemetery and dispatching reaction officers as required.
