Professor Nick Ossei-Gerning, a renowned Consultant General and Interventional Cardiologist, has been appointed as the new chief of Effiduase in the Ashanti region. He succeeded the late Nana Adu Ameyaw, who served for 35 years from 1991. Ossei-Gerning, 61, took the stool name Nana Osei Frimpong Ampem Ababio. The installation ceremony was attended by the Chief of Ejura, Barima Osei Hwedie II, who represented the Mampong Traditional Council as the Adontehene.
Sub-chiefs and kingmakers of Effiduase, numbering around 35, also swore their allegiance to the new chief. Ossei-Gerning, who is an alumnus of Mfantsipim School, was declared Nana Osei Frimpong Ampem Ababio during the ceremony. He is also the Visiting General and Interventional Cardiologist at the University of Ghana Medical Centre, Accra, and the Medical Director of Euracare Advanced Diagnostic & Heart Centre in Accra.
