A dream written in the heart

The story of Universiti Al-Quran Al-Sultan Abdullah Ahmad Shah Pahang (UNIQSAAS) is not merely the tale of a university; it is the story of a vision that was consistently pursued over many years, ultimately becoming a reality. When the idea of a Qur’an university first took root, it was not considered a fleeting aspiration or an ambitious project to be achieved within a few years; rather, it became a lifelong journey.

Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah recognized that memorising the Qur’an was not the culmination of education but its beginning, and a gifted young hafiz should also have the opportunity to pursue fields such as medicine, engineering, science, education, law, economics, or any other area of human endeavour. This conviction was not merely an idea, but a journey that resulted in the establishment of Kolej Islam Pahang Sultan Ahmad Shah Pahang (KIPSAS) in 1996 and the Maahad Tahfiz Negeri Pahang (Maahad Tahfiz) in 1996, which integrated the national curriculum with tahfiz education, offering early childhood students a broader range of opportunities.

In 2015, the vision evolved further into Kolej Universiti Islam Sultan Ahmad Shah Pahang (KUIPSAS), which later became Universiti Islam Sultan Ahmad Shah Pahang (UNIPSAS) in 2021, and ultimately Universiti Al-Quran Al-Sultan Abdullah Ahmad Shah Pahang (UNIQSAAS) in 2026. This progression showcases the continuous development of the institution, reflecting the unwavering commitment to the ideals that guided its inception.

From the words of Tunku Azizah Aminah Maimunah Iskandariah to the establishment of UNIQSAAS, the journey demonstrates that walking an idea requires patience, perseverance, and a steadfast commitment to fulfilling the trust placed in one’s leadership by Allah.
