Qatari Prime Minister, Syrian Foreign Minister discuss regional developments

Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al-Thani, Prime Minister and Foreign Minister of Qatar, engaged in a telephone call with Asaad Al-Shaibani, the Syrian Foreign Minister. The discussion centered on reinforcing bilateral ties and fortifying their relationship. According to the Qatar News Agency, the conversation also touched upon recent regional happenings, with a focus on de-escalation efforts and coordination between nations.

The Qatar Prime Minister and Foreign Minister stressed the critical importance of all parties engaging in dialogue and diplomacy, and adhering to the agreements outlined in the Memorandum of Understanding between the United States and Iran. This includes ensuring freedom of navigation through the Strait of Hormuz to maintain security and stability in the region.

The Qatari leader reaffirmed his country's unwavering support for any endeavors aimed at reducing tensions and achieving a permanent peace settlement in the Middle East. The Gulf state is currently participating in technical discussions alongside the United States and Iran, centered on the Strait of Hormuz tensions. The GCC and US have reaffirmed their alliance following the Iran nuclear deal, expressing their backing for a Syria and Gaza resolution.

Additionally, the Qatari Foreign Minister had a meeting with the US Secretary of State to further discuss regional developments.
